Our Welcome Message

We are very proud of our caring and nurturing environment and can offer you and your child a wonderful welcome into Hillary Primary School.

Our Nursery is well resourced and benefits from a large fenced outdoor area. Our children are given freedom and take their learning either inside or outside as we operate a free flow system between the indoor and outdoor environments.

Topics and themes are carefully planned to capture the children’s interest and imaginations and our experienced team work hard to ensure the children are safe, happy and make excellent progress during their time with us.

Meet the Team

We have three family groups:

Mrs. Quinn Ladybird Group

Miss Grewal Tiger Group

Mrs. Pearson Penguin Group

What we will be learning in the Autumn term

Our topics for this half term are, ‘Ourselves and my family.’  This is where we will be learning all about our likes and dislikes, body parts, rules and similarities and differences with others.

Please can you send in a family picture with your child so we can build our classroom community.

These will be returned to you shortly.

We will also be focusing on making choices, being independent and sharing and taking turns with the toys.

Help your child at home by reading regular bedtime stories each night. This special time not only helps your child to sleep but aids communication skills and vocabulary.

The nursery rhyme we will be focusing on this half term will be ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, little star.’

The link below has the rhyme to sing along to.

Our Jigsaw Topic

Jigsaw is a PSHE education programme for the whole primary school from ages 3-11. There are six puzzles and each year group is taught one lesson per week. All lessons are delivered in an age and stage appropriate way so that they meet children’s needs. Each puzzle starts with an introductory assembly, generating a whole school focus for adults and children alike. There is also a weekly celebration that highlights a theme from that week’s lesson across the school encouraging children to live that learning in their behaviour and attitudes. This term we will be focusing on the jigsaw piece Being Me in My World.

Once we have set up all the new parents onto class charts, we will start to upload weekly homework starting after half term.

Parent Notices

At home time please wait patiently for your child to come to you. This is an extremely important time and it is crucial that staff safely dismiss the children to their parents/carers. Please can you wait until all of the children are dismissed before speaking to your child’s Teacher.

Please ensure you send your child with names written in all items of clothing including bags, coats and hats.

Please send your child with a water bottle into school every day.

If you have any of the below main symptoms of COVID 19 self-isolate along with anyone you live with and get a PCR test. You should all stay at home until you get the results.

  • High temperature - this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • A new, continuous cough this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.

Walsall borough is now one of a growing number of areas where people with new and unexplained

other symptoms are recommended to seek a PCR test to help slow the spread of the virus. These

symptoms include:

  • Shortness of breath or unexplained fatigue
  • Diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting
  • Headache that lasts a long time
  • Myalgia (muscle aches or full body pains)
  • Sore Throat
  • Blocked or runny nose

Although these are not the usual symptoms associated with COVID19, we would like to encourage

pupils / staff / residents to get tested as a precaution.
