What we will be learning in the Autumn term

In the Autumn term, we will be covering some very exciting topics. In Maths we will visit number, place value, addition, subtraction and many other areas. In English we have many stimulating and gripping books planned, which will include lots of innovative and fun lessons linked to the books. In addition to this, we will be going back 2.6 million years and visiting the Stone Age. Closely linked to this, in Science, children will be learning about rocks and taking part in experiments, where we will be putting rocks to the test.

While children learn in school through academic subjects, at the same time we will be working on children’s emotional wellbeing. Thrive is the heart of our school and we will deliver Thrive lessons and activities throughout the week and the school Nest is always there for children, when they need support emotionally throughout the day.

Children will be taking part in 2 PE lessons a week. They will be expected to come to school dressed in their PE kits, which must consist of a plain white t-shirt, black/grey shorts or joggers and pumps or suitable trainers.

Our Jigsaw Topic

New to school this year is Jigsaw. We will use this program to deliver PHSE lessons, which will help prepare children for life, helping them really understand and value who they are. We will be covering the Being Me in My World unit. Please keep an eye out on our school website for the weekly Jigsaw celebrations.

Homework will be set on Friday, on a fortnightly basis. This will be set on Google Classroom and it is expected that it is completed to a high standard. It is also essential that your child accesses Bug Club, Times Tables Rock Stars and also we ask for you to listen your child read or read to them. All log in details will be sent home with your children.

“The more that you read, the more things you’ll know, the more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”- Dr. Seuss

Parent Notices

Children are all expected to come to school dressed in full school uniform (excluding PE days). We ask that all children bring a clean water bottle into school daily, this will go home at the end of school and will need to be washed and refilled. As the autumn and winter months approach, it is important that children come to school in appropriate outerwear. This will include a warm and waterproof coat and hat.

We can’t wait to make memories and expand our children’s forever growing minds and imaginations. We are always here to help!
