What we will be learning in the Autumn term

In Maths, we will be beginning the year with place value, understanding and using 4 digit numbers, made up of thousands, hundreds, tens and ones.

Our English lessons have begun with images of a strange and unusual place, full of other people’s rubbish. We can’t wait to discover more about this place, and how the story unfolds!

In Music, we are learning to play the ukulele with Mrs George. This is linked to our Sound topic in Science, as we explore how sound travels through the air towards our ears, how our ears work, and using vocabulary such as pitch, volume and vibrations.

Our History lessons will be all about the Vikings, when they lived, where they came from and invaded, and how their lives were different to ours today.

In Art, we have started to think about our dreams in our Viewpoints topic, looking closely at the Surrealist movement of the 1920s.

Our Computing lessons will cover internet safety and networks. We will also be learning Romanian in our Modern Foreign Language lessons, where children will begin by learning basic greetings.

Our Jigsaw Topic

In Jigsaw, we will start off with the topic of ‘Being me in my world’ where we will look at our rights and responsibilities, how to be part of a class team and a school citizen, rewards and consequences, group decision making, having a voice and what motivates behaviour. Please keep a look out for our weekly Jigsaw celebrations on the website!
